Barnesboro
bestaat sinds eind 2006 niet meer. De mijn zal echter terugkeren als
oNetrak module. Onderstaand een overzicht zoals het eens was.....

Barnesboro
no longer exists. The mine will however return as an oNetrak module in
future. Below an overview of the good old times when the coal business
at Barnesboro was still booming.....

In midden
Pennsylvania ligt de plaats Barnesboro aan de west tak van de
Susquehanna rivier. De enige industrie is de kolenmijn van het
befaamde duo Barney & Fred. De verre voorouders van beide heren
waren al werkzaam in de mijnbouw.

In mid Pennsylvania, on the banks of the west branch of the Susquehanna
river, lies the small village Barnesboro. The only industry is
coalmining of the famous Barney & Fred. Their ancestors were also
in the mining business.

Naast de
mijn van Barney & Fred ligt, gebouwd tegen de helling, het
mijnwerkersdorp dat bestaat uit typische “company houses”.

Beside the tipple of Barney & Fred, located on he hillside is this
typical mining town which consist of company houses.

|
De kolen
worden door verschillende maatschappijen afgevoerd maar de
Pennsylvania Railroad voort de boventoon. Het gerucht gaat dat er in
de nabijheid een nieuwe mijn wordt gebouwd maar dat is een ander
verhaal……

Several railroads have access to the mine but the biggest is the
Pennsylvania Railroad. Rumour has it that there will be a new mine
built near by but that’s an other story……
