is twiNtrak?
Na een aantal jaar binnen de PH & LF met een meerderheid aan oNetrak modules wensten twee leden een dubbelsporige module standaard die een nieuwe dimensie zou toevoegen aan de oNetrak baan en die de mogelijkheid gaf de vele dubbelsporige hoofdlijnen in Noord-Amerika na te bootsen. Deze nieuwe standaard werd twiNtrak. Net als de oNetrak modules, hebben de modules een lengte van een meervoud van één Amerikaanse foot, zodat gebruikelijke lengtes 30,5 cm, 61 cm 91,5 en 122 cm zijn. De lengte van 91,5 is de meest voorkomende vanwege de handzaamheid en de redelijke lengte. De diepte is standaard van 40 cm. Het buitenste hoofdspoor ligt vanuit de achtergrond gezien op 21,5 cm en het binnenste hoofdspoor ligt op 18,5 cm vanuit de achterkant. De radius van het binnenste spoor op hoek modules moet ten minste 70 cm zijn. De eigen module(set) moet worden verbonden met andere modules door verbindingsrails van 12,55 mm waarbij op de eigen module een lengte van de helft daarvan ligt. De overgang tussen de sporen binnen de eigen module sets mogen koude verbindingen zijn.
What is
twiNtrak?
After a couple of years within the PH&LF with a majority of oNetrak modules, two members wanted a double track module standard which would add an new dimension to the oNetrak operations and would represent the many two track mainlines in North America. This new standard is called twiNtrak. The modules have the same lnghts as the oNetrak modules and also have a length of a plural of one foot, so common lengths are 1 foot, 2 feet, 3 feet and 4 feet, whereas 3 feet is the most common because of the handiness and the reasonable length. The depth is a standard of 40 cm . The outside mainline track should be at the end of the module(set) 21,5 cm from the back of the module, the inner mainline should be 18,5 cm from the back of the module. The radius of the track on corner modules should be at least 70 cm. The own module(set)s should be connected with other modules through connecting tracks of 4,94 inch of which half of this lenghts is on the own module. The connecting tracks within the own module sets may be cold connections.
Meesville is een kleine stad ergens in het oosten van de USA. Ergens begin 19e eeuw heeft een Nederlandse emigrant genaamd Mees zich hier gevestigd. De plaats is sindsdien langzaam gegroeid tot wat het nu in de jaren zestig van de 20e eeuw is. Meesville ligt aan de dubbelsporige hoofdlijn van de New York Central Railroad tussen New York en Chicago. Hoewel het passagiers verkeer de laatste jaren is afgenomen en een aantal passagierstreinen niet meer halt houden in Meesville wordt het station nog wel gebruikt. Naast wat kortere door E7’s en E8’en getrokken passagierstreinen die er stoppen wordt het station voor het lokale verkeer bezocht door RDC’s.
De lokale economie draait op een aantal kleinere bedrijven die deels spooraansluiting hebben vanuit het station. Eén van die bedrijven is McClouds, een bedrijf dat al sinds 1865 bestaat en hoofdzakelijk hoefijzers maakt voor paarden van de bereden politie in (de staat) New York. Een andere grote werkgever is Canadian Dry dat de welbekende frisdrank produceert.
Typerend voor Meesville is New York Central street die grotendeels parallel loopt aan de spoorlijn en daar ook haar naam aan ontleent. In deze straat vind je diverse winkels, o.a. van de grote keten Woolworth’s, een bank, een hotel en een bioscoop, dat in Art-Deco stijl is gebouwd. Het hotel en Jay’s bar & Grill hebben beide betere tijden gekend toen Meesville voor veel zakenlieden nog een prettige tussenstop was op de langere reizen. Overigens bijzonder is de volgens B&O stijl gebouwde seinhuis dat in Meesville staat.
Bij de kruizing van New York Central street en Meesville Mainstreet is de brandweer kazerne.
Meesville bestaat uit drie modules van ieder 91,5 cm bij 40 cm. In de toekomst komt daar nog een extra module van 91,5 cm bij aangezien diverse bedrijven een aanvraag ingediend hebben om zich in Meesville te vestigen met de mogelijkheid tot een spooraansluiting.
De meeste gebouwen zijn geheel zelf gebouwd, sommige van alleen een foto, van andere had ik van het internet tekeningen.

Meesville is a small town somewhere in the eastern USA. Sometime early 19th century, a Dutch immigrant named Mees settled here. The place has since gradually grown into what it is now in the sixties of the 20th century. Meesville is located at the two-track main line of the New York Central Railroad between New York and Chicago. Although passenger traffic has declined in recent years and some passenger trains no longer stop at Meesville, the passanger station is still used. Besides shorter passenger trains pulled by E7 and E8'en which stop at the station, the station is regulary visited by RDCs.
The local economy is
supported by some smaller companies
that have a rail connection near the
railroad station. McCloud is
one of those companies, a
company that exists since
1865 and mainly makes
horseshoes for horses of
the mounted police in (the
state of) New York. Another major
employer is the Canadian Dry which produces the well
soda.
Typical of Meesville
is New York Central Street
that is situated next to the
mainline from which it derives its
name. In this street you
will find several shops, including
the great chain of Woolworth's,
a bank, a hotel
and a cinema, an
Art Deco style building.
The hotel and Jay's Bar & Grill
both have seen better days
when Meesville for many
businessmen still was a
pleasant stopover on longer
journeys. Special in Meesville is the B &
O style signal box.
At the junction of Central
New York Street and
Meesville Mainstreet you
will find the fire
station.
Meesville comprises
of three modules of each 91.5
cm by 40 cm.
In the future, there
will be an additional module
of 91.5 cm because several
companies have filed
an application to settle
in Meesville with the possibility of a
rail connection.
Most of the structures are scratchbuilt. some are build with only a photograph as a reference, from other buildings I had drawings from the internet.

Om twiNrak te kunnen aansluiten aan de oNetrak modules zijn er overgangsmodules nodig. De eerste daarvan is The Wooden Church. De kerk is nagebouwd op basis van tekeningen van de Congregational Church in Rocky Hill in Hartford County, Connecticut. De enige afwijking van het orgineel is het spitse dak op de toren.
Voor de kerk komt net een bruidspaar aan voor de kerkelijke inzegening van het huwelijk. Dit heeft echter weinig aandacht van de koeien die aan de andere kant van de spoorlijn rustig staan te grazen naast een uitgedroogde poel.
De module is 45,75 cm (1,5 feet) lang en 40 cm diep.

In
order to
connect the twiNtrak modules
with the oNetrak modules, transition
modules are necessary. The
first transition module is The Wooden Church.
The church was constructed
from drawings of the Rocky
Hill Congregational Church in
Hartford County, Connecticut.
The only deviation from the
original is the pointed
roof of the
tower.
In front of the church a
couple just arrived for the
religious ceremony of marriage.
However, this has little
attention from the cows on
the other side of the tracks as they are
quietly grazing beside
a dried pool.
The module is 45.75 cm
(1.5 feet) long
and 40 cm deep.
